Cundall Ireland helps pioneer standardisation for 3D construction printing

C undall Ireland , Harcourt Technologies Ltd ( HTL ) and Harcourt Architects are jointly pioneering a new method of 3D construction printing directly on site . Developed in Ireland , this new method of construction offers a faster , cheaper and more sustainable way to build , and will initially focus on standardised housing schemes and social housing developments .

This fully regulatory-compliant approach will be rolled out on the first 3D construction printed housing scheme in Ireland later this year . The proposed residential housing scheme will be delivered using COBOD International A / S 3D construction printing technology and will comply with Irish Building regulatory frameworks .
So far , a lack of standardised construction details and regulations has been a hindrance to widespread implementation of 3D construction printing in Ireland and the UK . The collaboration aims to develop a comprehensive set of standard guidelines and regulations for 3D construction printing processes , covering all aspects from design considerations to execution to ensure efficiency , quality , and safety for all future projects .
Gerard Doyle , Associate Director at Cundall , said : “ The opportunity to develop an engineering solution to bring 3D construction printing from concept to a viable , sustainable and robust form of construction is truly exciting . More importantly , we are embarking on a method of constructing buildings that can meet the current needs of delivering safe , sustainable buildings quickly , without compromising on design , quality or longevity .”

New HS2 training programme to help more women access construction careers women that want to return to the workplace , or start a new career , to consider taking part .

S2 is working with Women into Construction ( WiC ), an independent not-for-profit organisation , to help more women in the Midlands , UK , launch a career in the construction sector .
A new four-week bespoke training programme will combine two weeks of training , a two-week work placement on HS2 and oneto-one support from WiC . Childcare and transport costs are both provided , whilst on placement , and HS2 hopes this will encourage
On successful completion of the course , candidates will gain a construction skills accreditation that enables them to work on-site , ready to start a new career . The work placement element of the course is varied , with candidates able to select between either site or officebased roles including Project Management , Corporate Social Responsibility and Engineering , reflecting the breadth of career opportunities in the sector .
Beatriz Ramos Albert , HS2 ’ s Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Apprentice who is coordinating the programme said : “ Our partnership with WiC is now in its fourth year and we ’ ve supported local women from a broad range of backgrounds , whether university graduates or new mums returning to the workplace , to start new careers .”
