GRAPHIC are fighting to maintain their vitality , while others that struggled under lockdown are showing signs of resurgence . A common theme emerges from our data : urban life has pain points , but the desirability of cities is persistent . From the bubonic plague of medieval times to 1918 ’ s Great Influenza , pandemics have catalysed urban reinvention . Our research shows that we are once again at that pivotal historical moment : the return of the city .
