Bechtel partners with the Saudi Women Engineers Society

B echtel , a leading engineering , procurement , construction and project management company , has announced a new partnership with Saudi Women Engineers Society , the first Engineering Society for women in Saudi Arabia . Bechtel will support the not-for-profit with professional development , skill enhancement and career advancement opportunities for Saudi-national women engineers .

The new partnership will support Saudi ’ s Vision 2030 goal to empower women in the region by increasing career opportunities , including development and training , for women in the workforce .
“ Bringing more diverse talent into the engineering and STEM fields in Saudi Arabia is crucial to delivering on Vision 2030 ’ s goals ,” said Abdul-Rahman Al-Ghabban , President of Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company and Regional Manager for the Middle East Region at Bechtel . “ Bechtel is partnering with SWES with the goal of inspiring more women in Saudi Arabia – and around the world – to pursue engineering careers and to become future leaders in our industry .”

EngineeringUK launches innovative climate schools programme to inspire next generation of engineers

Overcoming the fact that engineering doesn ’ t feature highly on school curriculums , the pilot programme will test a unique allschool , cross-curricular approach . Teacher-led science , geography and English lessons are on offer that not only align with each nation ’ s curriculum but also inspire students to explore green engineering careers and tackle climate change head-on . There are also Climate Action theme packs available that support existing extra-curricular clubs or new Climate Action Clubs .

E ngineeringUK has announced it ’ s launching a brandnew pilot programme for schools – designed to help students explore solutions to tackling climate change and discover how engineers and engineering and technology are a key part of this .

Maddie Dinwoodie , Director of Engagement Programmes at EngineeringUK , said : “ We want to drive change so that more young people , from all backgrounds , choose engineering and technology careers . We know young people are interested in and motivated by environmental sustainability , but there is little focus on its connection with engineering in schools .”
